Welcome to the family-run Hotel Guggital, which is located in the most beautiful location in Zug.
Experience a breathtaking view over Zug, Lake Zug and the picturesque mountain panorama. Our house tells the story of five centuries and has always retained its charming, family character.
With great attention to detail, the Guggital has been carefully modernized over time and today it combines a unique mixture of additions from different eras.
Our hotel has 32 modern single and double rooms, all of which have been recently renovated. Many rooms have a balcony and a lake view. Facilities include a bath/shower, toilet, cable TV, free WiFi, direct dial telephone with alarm function, radio, safe and hairdryer. Our two vending machines in the hotel provide you with chilled drinks and small snacks around the clock.
In addition to the unique location, the historic atmosphere and the family charm, our hotel also impresses with its easy accessibility and the quiet location between the city and the local recreation area. The popular funicular Zugerbergbahn is only 300 meters away and it is only a 12-minute walk to the lake and the old town of Zug.
We offer plenty of on-site parking spaces, and the bus with direct connections to the train station and Baar stops right in front of the house.
In summer our Guggital Garden is a wonderful highlight. Enjoy the pleasant shade of old chestnut trees, the phenomenal lake view and our well-equipped children's playground with carousel and trampoline.
Most importantly: We are a house for all guests!
The historical story of the Guggital in Zug
As early as the 16th century, there was a charming little farmhouse here that offered fine refreshments to walkers. Over time, the property was expanded and pensioners found accommodation in the house.
In 1862, a food license was applied for in the Guggital. In the 19th century, the Guggital developed into a popular health resort and spa hotel. City dwellers came to the Guggital to relax with water and air cures.
Baths were offered in the house's laundry room to give them strength. A branch was set up especially for children, who could recharge their batteries in the Guggital with fresh cow's milk and clean spring water, far away from the poor hygiene standards of the cities of that time.
The Guggital has undergone many changes over the centuries. In the last century, the original spa guesthouse became a hotel for business travelers, artists and writers.
In recent years we have noticed another change: more families are coming here again, which makes us very happy. We want our gastronomy to remain colorful and diverse.
